The students of YU Department of New Materials Engineering won various prizes in main academic conferences held in this year and their research power is externally accepted.

The graduate school students and faculty students of YU Department of New Materials Engineering won four prizes in 2022 Summer Academic Conference of The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic Material Engineers held in Gangwon-do Pyeongchang Alpensia Convention Center in June. More than 1,400 researchers from domestic universities and research institutes, etc. participated in this conference and presented 630 cases of research performances.

CHOI Han-seung (4th Master's) of YU Graduate School of Department of New Materials Engineering won the first prize in oral session and 12 faculty students including KIM Min-woo of 4th Grade of Department of New Materials Engineering presented joint research result and won the first prize in faculty student competition. They presented the result of a research on design and optimization of energy harvesting elements to generate electric power with use of magnetic field to be discarded in the surroundings and the performance was accepted. Especially, the faculty research team, which won the first prize, got good evaluation result with presentation of the result of “A study on hybrid energy harvesting with use of both frictional-electric effect and piezoelectric effect” which was conducted in capstone design education course in the last semester.

In poster session, YE Ji-won (1st Master’s) of graduate school won the first prize with suggestion of direction of the research applicable to flexible energy storage elements based on a research on improvement of electric properties with optical heat treatment of ceramic films on traditional plates that cannot heat treated. A joint research team consisting of faculty students including LEE Ho-young of 4th Grade and five graduate school students won the first prize with presentation of a research result on elements applicable to small electronic devices after manufacture of a ceramic heater having extended life time and improved stability for current electronic cigarettes.

In addition, KANG Min-ji (3rd Master’s) of YU Graduate School of Department of New Material Engineering and LEE Sang-min of 4th Grade of the faculty won excellent poster prizes, respectively, in 2022 Engineering Ceramics Symposium held in Jeollanam-do Mokpo Sinan Beach Hotel from 30th June to 1st July. Their research was evaluated to have contributed in reduction of import dependence with localization of alumina to be used in semiconductor and display industry.
